Agaricus Blazei Mushroom (Agaricus subrufescens)

Agaricus blazei is an edible mushroom of the Basidomycota family, growing freely in the coastal Piedade rain forest area outside of São Paulo, Brazil. It is now widely cultivated in Japan for medicinal uses. Agaricus blazei has traditionally been used to treat common serious diseases like atherosclerosis, hepatitis, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes mellitus, dermatitis and cancer.

The main constituents of Agaricus blazei are Beta glucan, polysaccharides, glucomannan protein.
